The terms used across the site. In the diaries and system pages, the first use of each one is underlined with dots: point at it, or tap it, to read its meaning in place.

- Al-IskandariyyaEU5 term
- Alexandria, as EU5 names it: Egypt's great port and the end of the spice route from India.
- AntagonismEU5 term
- EU5's measure of how much a country's expansion alarms the others. Enough of it leads to coalitions.

- Bullion famineHistory
- The shortage of silver and gold coin in Europe in the late fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, as mines ran down and metal flowed east to pay for imports.

- CTDShorthand
- Crash to desktop: the game closing without warning.
- CuriaHistory
- The papal court, which granted or sold the licences to trade with Egypt.

- EmirHistory
- A commander. In the Mamluk Sultanate, an officer who kept a household of mamluks of his own.
- EstateEU5 term
- In EU5, a social group such as the nobles, clergy, burghers or peasants, with its own power, satisfaction and privileges.

- FondacoHistory
- A merchants' compound in a foreign port, with warehouses, lodgings and a consul, held by leave of the local ruler. Plural fondachi.

- Great EmirsGravitas Historica
- In Gravitas Historica, the five most powerful emirs. When a sultan dies, they compete for the throne.
I
- IqtaHistory
- A grant of the tax revenue of a village or district to a soldier in return for military service. The revenue goes to him, not the treasury.

- KhushdashiyyaHistory
- The bond between mamluks bought and trained under the same master: brothers-in-arms for life. In Gravitas Historica it is the mamluk estate's satisfaction.

- MamlukHistory
- A soldier bought as a slave, trained, freed and raised to command. In Egypt and Syria from 1250 to 1517 the mamluks were the ruling class.
- Maritime presenceEU5 term
- In EU5, how strongly a country is felt in a stretch of sea. It decides trade and naval control there.
- MudaHistory
- A Venetian state galley convoy, auctioned to merchants and sailing on a fixed route and season, such as the muda to Alexandria.

- Papal licenceHistory
- The Pope's permission to trade with Egypt despite the Church's ban on trade with Muslim lands. Sold to merchants and cities after 1344.

- Royal MamluksHistory
- The sultan's own mamluks, bought and trained by him, and loyal to him rather than to the throne.

- SEAShorthand
- Southeast Asia.
- SituationEU5 term
- An EU5 mechanic for a long-running state of affairs, with its own panel, actions and outcomes.
- Societal valuesEU5 term
- In EU5, sliding scales that describe a country's character, such as land against naval or offensive against defensive.

- UstadhHistory
- The master who bought, trained and freed a mamluk, and to whom the mamluk stayed bound.
